What is flowering
now?
Click on the month tab above for present local
flowerings.
It would be great to have your input here: we'd love
to receive any flowerings you notice, either as a simple email with
notes about what you saw and the locality, or emailed photos (small
please), or simply a phone call to Richard.

Books and
maps
There is not a great deal of online help for walking around the
Busselton - Margaret River area, but there are some great
books.
- DEC
(CALM) offices have maps, info sheets, brochures and books.
- Tourist bureaus/visitor centres usually have local info and
maps.
There are centres at Busselton, Dunsborough and
Margaret River, ...
- Busselton
Naturalists' Club have regular walks during the year.

The Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park is well served by these
books by Jane Scott (illustrations by Patricia Negus):
SCOTT, J., FORMA, R. & NEGUS, P. (4th edition 2008)
The Cape to Cape
Track Guidebook, Cape to Cape Publishing, North
Fremantle.
SCOTT, J. & NEGUS, P. (2007) Walking Round In
Circles, Cape to Cape Publishing, North Fremantle.
SCOTT, J. & NEGUS, P. (1999, out of print) Walking the
Capes, Cape to Cape Publishing, North Fremantle.
A new pocket guide book by Jane Scott for the Cape to Cape
Track:

The NatureBase section of the DEC
website is worth exploring.

Walking in the
South West at NatureBase (DEC)
The Cape to Cape
track at NatureBase (DEC).
The
Tuart Forest National Park at NatureBase (DEC).
The Wildflower Society of Western
Australia has an online
guide to seeing the wildflowers of the South West. The
Busselton-Margaret River section is sketchy, but useful
nonetheless.
The Shire of
Augusta-Margaret River has a page on walk tracks, ...
The Shire of
Busselton has a webpage on Natural Wonders (curiously
positioned on its website for visitors to the shire - we think
local residents deserve access to natural wonders as well !!!) It
includes Meelup Regional Park but the list is
not at all comprehensive.
WalkGPS
Bushwalks in the Perth region, Western Australia is a useful
site encouraging walking, and includes walks in a wider area than
just the Perth region.

Guide books are very useful for anyone out and about looking at
local flora, bird-life, etc. Here, we are only concerned with
flora.
Our pages that point to useful books:
- Picture Book
- Genus
(The Holiday Melaleuca and Hakea books are very
useful - not necessarily to cart around in the bush, but to look at
when back home. They are both in the Busselton
Library).
When you get home ...
We sincerely hope that you might also find some of our pages useful
to piece together your understanding of the flora of our region. We
value your input with new photos, or comments.

Give us the perception of the
wonders of nature,
And the wisdom to preserve them
for generations to come.
