Flora of the
South West
A book describing about 2000 plant species of an area slightly larger than that of the Busselton Shire and its surrounding districts.

1. Our Flora

This website, concerned mainly with the flora of the Shire of Busselton, covers only a part of the Flora of the South West area. We do not know the species' count for the Busselton region, but it is rather smaller than the 2000-odd species listed in Flora of the South West.

As well as propagating plants for the Busselton shire, Geographe Community Landcare Nursery currently provides plants to projects in the Margaret River region, and the Capel region, so we include a few species on our website and in our species' list not commonly found in the Busselton shire.

Although the nursery currently propagates only a proportion of our local plants (but over 180 species), we hope in time to propagate many more of the species of the flora of the Busselton Shire and surrounding districts.

Many people find coming to grips with Australian flora a bit daunting, and we hope our website might help to make it all a little less puzzling.

In our photo-essay pages on local species, we attempt to provide photographs and information about some of our local species, particularly those we grow at the nursery.

These pages can be accessed from:

In this section of the website, we suggest several ways to learn about our flora.
